Here you will discover a beautiful coastline with crying sand beaches and stalwart mountains between which spray from the Fudodaki waterfall can be seen. Anya is a town on the coast of the Sea of Japan that has its other three sides surrounded by mountains. It is full of the bright colors of nature and the home of Inshu Washi. Here also lie the remains of Aoya Kamijichi. where a human brain from the Yayoi period was discovered. There are several pure streams running through the town, including the Hioki River, along whose upper stream paper has been made since ancient times Inshu Washi still remains an important industry in Aoya town. The Aoyas washi studio and Yamane washi museum retain the magnificence of a tradition even now while also revealing the potential of Inshu Washi.
